Barren pursuits?

As pupils of science
Toil unto construe and clone
The essence of blooms,
A humble bumblebee gleans
Springtime nectars through its genes.

So were heirs of art
Scrambling to mimic the bliss
That nature begot,
Whilst winged miniatures soared
And untutored skylarks scored.
